With the slow drafts starting in just under a week, I was finally able to get my projections finished up in order to share them with the League again this year.
Accuracy in projections is heavily dependent on player health. I was able to get these updated based on the latest injury news related to Fred VanVleet, who is likely out for the year, or at least the full regular season. But there was also Tyler Herro and Darius Garland, both missing the start of the season for multiple weeks. Then of course there’s all the players in Philly.
To repeat what I stated last year, I will copy and paste this: Although GPC is considered a “points league”, our rankings differ slightly from standard points formats because of HOW our format utilizes the player scores from game to game. Higher ceiling players are usually valued more, and higher floor players might be valued less, since consistency and totals aren’t as relevant. Our rankings reflect this.
Below you will see the latest top 100 player projections for this coming season, which includes where they finished up at the end of last season to help you compare.
Nikola Jokić topped last season’s rankings. I had projected him to fall slightly from 2nd down to 5th. Even that tiny, little adjustment looks stupid in hindsight. I’m not even going to try to get cute with him this year. Until he shows otherwise, he’s staying at the top.
The biggest movers on the board are mostly due to an assumingly healthier season or in some cases, the exact opposite. If LaMelo Ball (22) misses half the season again, he’s gonna find himself permanently banned from making my top 25.
I had absolutely no idea where to place Joel Embiid (33). If he plays enough, he’s a top 10 guy. In drafts, I would probably only be comfortable taking him sometime after round 3 this year.
VanVleet’s injury had me adjusting several other Rockets players at the last minute: Kevin Durant (10) and Amen Thompson (42) both got a slight boost, and Tari Eason (98) now makes the list.
Then there’s the shady business going on in Los Angeles and Kawhi Leonard (59). A month ago, I had him in my top 25 in a bounce-back year, but who knows what happens between him, the team, and Commissioner Silver. My projection now reflects the uncertainty of that situation.
I also don’t usually rank rookies as high as top 100, but of course Cooper Flagg (76) is a solid exception.
Kyrie Irving (83) is missing half the season, but he still might be good enough to give top 100 value when he returns. I couldn’t say the same for Dejounte Murray though.

There were eight players ranked in the top 100 at the end of last season who did not make these projections. THREE of them were in the top 20! Jayson Tatum, Tyrese Haliburton, and Damian Lillard won’t be seeing the court at all during the regular season, so they’re out. The rest of them (Quentin Grimes, Bennedict Mathurin, Shaedon Sharpe, DeAndre Hunter, and Tobias Harris) had all finished between #82 and #100. Now most of them reside just outside, but peeking in.
Some other honorable mentions that came close but didn’t make the cut: Bobby Portis (102), Donte DiVincenzo (105), Jonathan Kuminga (106), Daniel Gafford (108), Santi Aldama (109), and <<FLYER ALERT>> Kyle Filipowski (110).
