This is intended for all the team owners involved in the Game Peak City fantasy hoops league on Fantrax. If you’re someone else coming across this and wondering what the heck it is, just check out Welcome to Game Peak City!
The formula for these rankings changed quite a bit from last year. A lot more went into it, and I know it’s still not perfect but I think it better represents what is valued the most in this league from week to week.
Annual reminder: since the league’s inception, John Hollinger’s Game Score formula (a simpler, linear version of PER) is what we’ve used for fantasy scoring in Game Peak City, and a Game Score of 10 is considered average. Scoring 20 is considered a very solid game. Breaking 30 is hard to do.
Luka Dončić takes the top spot this season, thanks to some well spaced-out absences. He missed 18 games but the majority of them were spread out over the course of the season that he only missed one entire week (the final one), allowing him to maintain week-to-week Peak value, and delivering almost every time he touched the floor. His season is a perfect example of how our league differs from normal points leagues with regards to player values. Luka didn’t lead in volume. He didn’t have the most monster games, and his season average wasn’t even at the top. But the disbursement of his performances over the course of the season was ideal. He did lead the league in having the most weeks with at least one 25+ Game Score (21 out of a possible 23 weeks), and weeks with at least one 30+ Game Score (17 out of 23). So, since our format says it is far better to miss one game per week for 5 weeks rather than miss five games in a row, Luka did it better than anyone.
Nikola Jokić only dropped one spot after leading the league last season, and really it was only because he missed all of January. His game-to-game volume and efficiency remained fairly consistent for like the 6th year in a row. And to nobody’s surprise, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished in the top 3 yet again.
What was a surprise was who ended up in the fourth spot: a healthy Jamal Murray, who had just a fantastic year.
So without further ado, I present to you the Game Peak City Top 200 for this past season:

If a player had a double-digit season average but didn’t crack the top 200, it usually means they just didn’t play enough games or didn’t put up enough 20-pt games over multiple weeks.
On average, 73 players put up a 20+ Game Score in any given week. Roughly 97 players get at least one 18+ Game Score in any given week.
